Mechanist is one of the easiest classes to play well, and Holosmith is one of the hardest. Scrapper plays like Core Engineer and is definitely between Mechanist/Holosmith in difficulty. Mechanist can fill any role in PvE and is a very desirable elite spec for group content. Scrapper has Quickness support, but Holosmith is DPS only.
The irony is, it's HE who CAN'T include his Soulbeast spec into his build, despite me having put 30 hero points there already, as much points as my Elementalist, who CAN include the spec:). It does sound confusing as I read this, but, since English isn't my first language, I can't explain it clearer:(.

Yes, You can respec as much as you want. #5. y0rge Aug 17, 2022 @ 10:50pm. Your Race And Spec is perma ( warrior/engi ect) but with EoD dlc there is now 3 subclass for each class. You can respec that as much as you want. #6. jcm2606 Aug 18, 2022 @ 6:19am. Originally posted by Tyrian Mollusk:
There's so many extra points available currently that you can easily have enough to fully unlock the specialization before even stepping into Cantha even if it costs 350 points instead of the 250 of the previous ones. So they'd have to do something like having a different flavor of hero points to even slow you down.
I am halfway through LW3 after completing HoT's main story line and still cannot spec far enough into my guardian's elite spec to make it useful. I really want to play firebrand but I am getting disheartened a bit that I won't get to till I've already completed PoF or later. UPDATE: I was able to get into one and now have Firebrand unlocked!
You need somewhat 250 (or 255?) points to fully unlock a single elite spec. You can easily get into hero point train (a group that does a lot of hero points in a row to help new people unlock stuff or farm map currencies by doing hero points repeatedly).
TLDR: Don't worry about using the hero points, just play what you want and try as many different things as you can to learn and get a feel for them. You get enough Hero Points by the time you turn 80 to buy out all the (non elite) stuff anyways. Pack a scepter in your backpack, don't run only signets, an have fun testing everything out.
Each one is 10 points, 25 for each elite spec because they all need 250. So 750 points in total. And for the first toon, just play the game I guess, is it too much work to expirience the game at least once and get your hero points normally? Edited April 21, 2023 by jason.1083
With 250 needed for the elite spec, you need five additional HoT hero challenges to fully level your elite spec if you have 100% world completion. HoT hero challenges on the other hand give 10 hero points per challenge, for a total of 400 hero points (as there are 40 hero challenges across the 4 HoT maps).
